Hi Kristof,

Thanks again for looking into this.  Glad you uncovered the safeHeaderNames option so that can be included in the module.  

When I showed my variables to other developers at Hopkins it became apparent that they had different variables altogether and they did not have to change the shib_auth code for other Drupal instances.  

My colleagues are using the production authentication servers whereas I am using JHU's testing authentication servers.  In our environment this may be where the difference lies, especially if we are using the safeHeaderNames option in our testing environment.  I will ask around here to see if this is actually the case.
