22 November 2023, 10:00-17:00 CET : Hyperconnectivity for European HPC Supercomputers – hybrid workshop, Municon Conference Centre, Munich
The workshop will take place as part of the EuroHPC JU study called EuroHyPerCon which kicked off in October 2023 and is very relevant to HPC providers, users, and the EuroHPC ecosystem. The main scope of the EuroHyPerCon project is to identify and analyse the connectivity requirements of HPC systems in Europe and subsequently specify a future-proof connectivity service, along with its implementation roadmap. The workshop will mainly focus on the feedback from HPC users and providers through panel discussions and breakout sessions. Network providers are also very welcome to join. It’s also a great chance for networking and exchanging ideas.

01 December 2023, 14:00-15:00 (CET): "Energy Efficient Computing Webinars Vol. 1: Introduction to Energy Efficient Computing and Thermal Control in today's HPC systems" organized by CASTIEL WP2  Reducing power consumption and increasing energy efficiency has nowadays a key role in everyday utilization of HPC systems. Advanced and costly cooling solutions are needed to sustain the high computing densities of high-performance computing equipment. For this reason, detect and predict thermal anomalies is vital to assure safety working conditions and avoiding performance degradation. In this webinar, the fundamental concepts of power consumption and thermal control in today's high-end supercomputers will be presented.. 13 December 2023 : The EBRAINS Project: A Gateway to Collaborative Neuroscience Webinar, organized by CASTIEL WP2 This webinar aims at introducing EBRAINS, a digital research infrastructure that is accelerating collaborative brain research across neuroscience, brain health, and brain-related technologies. The session will commence with an overview of EBRAINS by Prof. Petra Ritter (EBRAINS coordinator), followed by a detailed presentation on the platform tools and datasets by Anastasiia Andriievska. As a member of the European Open Science Cloud association (EOSC), EBRAINS exemplifies open science, fostering collaboration on new research projects, infrastructure development, and sharing of data and knowledge across disciplines, institutions, and borders. The webinar aims to explore potential collaborations with interested NCCs and CoEs and demonstrate how EBRAINS’ commitment to Responsible Research and Innovation practices can shape research in ethical ways that serve the public interest. 12 December 2023: Flow simulation for the drone and the light aircraft industries ( NCC France) In English, online : Appeared in 1984, the numerical simulation of flow (CFD) has entered many industries. If commercial aviation has very quickly integrated CFD into its design processes, it's not the case for light aviation. Why? What tools are available? What are their advantages and disadvantages? 11-13 December 2023: Multi-architecture oaallelism usig Kokkos/C++ training (NCC France) on-site: This training aims at providing a dedicated introduction to the open source Kokkos C++ library, which is mainly developped in US (Sandia and OakRidge labs) for about a decade, and funded by the Departement of Energy, under the Exascale Computing Project (ECP). We will present a theoretical and practical introduction to the Kokkos programming model, illustrating the advantages over other alternative shared memory programming model like OpenMP/OpenACC.
