Conference: Gender Assessment of the Impact of EU Accession on Women and the
Labour Market in Central and Eastern Europe

Warsaw, November 7-9, 2003
organized by KARAT Coalition with the support of UNIFEM and NOVIB

Conference Theme
The main objective of the conference is to develop an understanding of the
opportunities emerging from EU accession process in order to advance the
social and economic rights of women. The adaptation of candidate countries'
law to EU legal equality standards will lead to the improvement of situation
of women as far as employment is concerned, even despite the persistence of
the gap between the laws and their implementation.

Due to financial constrains Karat Coalition will only be able to cover
the cost of participation of selected number of participants (conference fee, travel expenses and accommodation),
with preference being given to CEE/CIS women from NGOs focusing on gender and economic justice.
Others will have to use their own resources to cover expenses associated with their participation.
We regret this and hope that this will not discourage you from participation in this promising and strategic event.
The conference fee is 40 EURO.
For details and assistance with accommodation and travel arrangements, please contact to Malgorzata Tomaszewska from Karat Secretariat: at karat at zigzag.pl.
