You may be familiar with Transparency International -
http://www.transparency.org, a civil society organization dedicated to
curbing both international and national corruption. Transparency
International publishes online country ratings and provides a Corruption
Research and Information System with a comprehensive database on
corruption and governance.

With a highest rating of l0, countries that may interest you scored as
follows in Transparency International's Annual Report 2000:

Czech Republic - 3.9
Hungary - 5.3
Slovenia - 5.2
Slovakia - 3.7
Estonia - 5.6
Poland - 4.l
Romania - 2.8
Ukraine - 2.l
Lithuania - 4.8
Latvia - 3.4

Bosnia was not included in the listing.

Transparency International posts an Online Directory of Anti-Corruption
Programs in Central and Eastern Europe.

The highest rating by Transparency International was Finland with 9.9.
The lowest was Bangladesh with 0.4. The lowest of the EU candidate
countries was the Czech Republic (above) which shared 47th place with
Bulgaria in the 9l countries listed in the Transparency International
index survey. The United States received a TI rating of 7.6.
