Procedures




The Foundation provides conference support in two forms:

  1.Conference Grants
  2.International Symposia

CONFERENCE GRANTS

Grants for amounts up to $15,000 are available to the organizers of
conferences. Priority is given to working conferences that
address research issues in anthropology and provide for intensive
interaction among participants.

Symposia or panels within larger professional meetings, lectures, and
public events are not generally supported. . However,
organizers of international congresses or professional meetings may
apply for grants specifically to aid the participation of
scholars from the developing world.

Requests by individuals for travel support to attend meetings are not
accepted.

Procedures and Deadlines. Inquiries about conference grants should be
initiated with a letter describing the proposed
conference, or by submission of a Conference Description Form (available
upon request from the Foundation). If a request is
considered eligible, a formal application will be invited. There is no
deadline, but six months should be allowed from submission
of the full application until the date a decision is required.The
