Dear Working Group members,

We wanted to update you on plans for the Global Videoconference.

We have consulted with the UN Department of Public Information, the
Division for the Advancement of Women, and the Group for Equal Rights for
Women. We agreed that the inter-agency videoconference will take place on
8 March 1999 from 9:30-11:00 am in the General Assembly Hall. This
arrangement is highly symbolic, as the videoconference will take place on
the last International Women's Day of the millennium, in a central hall of
power for governments around the world. We want to thank DPI, DAW, and the
Group for Equal Rights for Women for working closely together with us to
make space for this event.

In addition, we continue to plan for celebrations surrounding the 50th
Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

We would like to extend our thanks to all the End-violence members for
your participation in this Working Group. We have been very excited about
the rich source of insight and experience you have provided in your
messages. They have been extremely important in helping us with the 50th
anniversary celebrations, as well as preparing for the videoconference.

We hope that you will continue your generous contribution of knowledge and
exchange of information.
