Dear Alice,
I have recieved another pictures, but the person who has found the object can not tell whether it has been made with metal tools or not. The diameter of the holes is circa 2 mm. He can not confirm use wear too.

Best wishes, Marloes

Dear Marloes,
Can you say whether it was manufactured using metal tools - that would at least eliminate the Mesolithic or Neolithic. Frankly, here in the Carpathian Basin, nice neat holes like that only appear at the beginning of our Late Bronze Age, around 1200 BC. Do the holes show any directional wear which might be a clue to whether the little plaque could 'clap' .

Alice

Dear all,

I am sending you two pictures of a bone object which has been found in the Netherlands. It could be dated from any period and there is no clear context. But maybe one of you has seen something like this or knows any parallels?

Thanks in advance and best wishes,

Marloes
