Dear worked bone list,

this week I received a request by Walter Ahmet of the British Museum Portable Antiquities Scheme for a rather unusual object found as a stray find in the river Thames in Kent. Walter kindly asks if anybody within the WBRG may have an idea about function, dating, comparative items or any other suggestions or information that may help to identify the artefact.
His request is forwarded below. The object can be viewed here: https://finds.org.uk/database/artefacts/record/id/857932 <https://finds.org.uk/database/artefacts/record/id/857932>

Selena Vitezović kindly provided a blog entry about Starčevo spoons for this months bonetool. See here for more information:

The deadline for abstract submissions for the 14th Worked Bone Research Group meeting in Johannesburg has been extended to 31 January 2021. The page for the meeting has been updated accordingly (https://www.wbrg.net/meetings/14th-meeting-johannesburg-2021 <https://www.wbrg.net/meetings/14th-meeting-johannesburg-2021>). Please submit your abstracts to Justin Bradfield at wbrg2021 at uj.ac.za.

The impressum and supporter page has been updated as well (https://www.wbrg.net/impressum).

> Dear Christian Küchelmann.
>
> My name is Walter (Jo) Ahmet and I am currently working with the British Museum Portable Antiquities Scheme as the Kent Finds Liaison Officer. A few years back the object recorded here <https://finds.org.uk/database/artefacts/record/id/857932> was reported to us from the river Thames. I’m not happy with the ID as it is quite uncertain. I was wondering if your learned group may be able to help?
