Hello,
Just as an additional update, I have checked the 1922 auction records of the
MacGregor collection. The object was listed as part of a group from multiple
sites and dates, but did not have any context itself. It doesn't reference
any prior records, so I have no more obvious possibilities for finding
contextual information. I will keep looking through any records I can find
for more info, but it looks unlikely that any record of the object's date or
origin exists.
Regards,
Erik
