Dear all, dear Olivier,
Are you looking for beaver astragals only or any perforated astragals?
Because ungulate astragals (from sheep/goat, red deer and cattle) are quite
common in Late Neolithic/Chalcolithic in central Balkans (Vinča culture),
and some time ago we had a lively discussion here on bonetools on diverse
usage of astragals across Europe.
If you're looking for medieval astragals only, I can send you reference for
the presence of unmodified astragals in Slav Christian graves in central
Balkans in approximately same time as your Viking examples.
best regards, Selena
