I'll start with that top specially for you, ChK, for i spoke of it to 
you previously, ("toupie allemande", Dictionnaire Larrousse du XXe 
siècle en 6 volumes),.

and with my last experiment, specially for you, IG, done thinking of 
your object (fig. 4 in your paper, if I remember well).

The starting question is : how do the wear proceed in the hole in the 
case of the top ?

Let us say that the cord is drawn toward(s) 6 on the clock. Where will 
be the main wear ? at 6 ?

On the bone (metacarpal shaft), the cord was drawn distally (on the 
right), as marked by the red arrow.

The answer is between 7 and 8

"La corde attire le trou", contrairement à ce que je croyais a priori.
