- made on the lathe,

- the first picture shows rather clearly a "step", what would be called 
"siège" in french (seat ?), as in a tap, for receveing the join(t) : the 
more reasonnable is that a disc what inserted/put there, as bottom, so 
as the object enters the category "round pyxis". Dont you have parallel 
among clay/ceramic vessels ?
