    called "siège" in french (seat ?), as in a tap, for receveing the
    join(t) : the more reasonnable is that a disc what inserted/put
    there, as bottom, so as the object enters the category "round
    pyxis". Dont you have parallel among clay/ceramic vessels ?<br>

                  am still not sure whether I now am a member of this
                  wonderful research group, but I have an object I would
                  like to submit for scrutiny (pictures attached)! It is
                  a hollow antler object, slightly oval in diameter,
                  that looks a bit like a hose pipe end. It measures
                  about 65mm in length, with two opposing holes for
                  fixing at the edge and has possible traces of red and
                  black paint on the body. The object was recovered from
                  one of our excavations on the site of Bermondsey Abbey
                  and the Cluniac Priory of St Saviour, in Southwark,
                  London. It came from a ploughsoil, just south of the
                  Abbey Church, with associated pottery dating from
                  1050-1150 AD. There is quite a lot of Roman residual
                  material from the site, and I initially thought this
                  might be a Roman object; however, the Roman
                  specialists are all shaking their heads and throwing
                  it back at me! Anybody seen anything similar?</span></p>
