Dear Erik,
I sent the photo of your object and the drawing of the vertical loom to
Dr. Orit Shamir, the textile expert of the Israel Antiquities Authority,
and this is her answer:
1. She does not think it was used in the textile industry as in
such objects the holes should be in a very straight line.
2. She knows of no evidence of tablet weaving in the Neolithic
period; also in tablet- or card-weaving the work can be done with the
cards only, no need of any other utensil.
3. The drawing of the vertical loom does not seem logical or
correct to her.
So I think that belt divider is the best offer.
