And the date is Early Medieval which in absolutel terms is what in your part of the world. Is it from a rural or urban context? Alice

Yes, red deer antler. It was broken in several pieces, but in the picture I sent it was restored. Only one fragment was not glued because it was found in a different deposit from the rest.

Dear colleagues,

I would very much appreciate if any of you could make any suggestion about the function of this artifact (see attached picture) or could give me some parallel. It was recovered in an early medieval site in northern Spain. The context is dated in the 6th-7th century.
