[Bonetools] FW: caput with nail

Dear Marloes,
This piece could be the pommel on top of the handle of a simple dagger
or knife. Its bottom seems too rough to be a spindle whorl. A handle of
a lid or even a drawer is also a possibility.
Yours

Subject: [Bonetools] caput with nail

Dear all,

Does anyone have an idea of the purpose of a cattle caput femoris, with
a metal nail through it? It is dated to the 17th century and has been
found in a cess pit in the Netherlands.

Best wishes,

Marloes
