I should add that what put the fire-making equipment in mind is a wooden object from the 
Scottish Crannog Centre used to ignite glowing embers (bow-drilling) with wood chips by 
blowing through a hole in the short end of a small wooden trough containing the ember and 
chips. This could be an unfinished object like that.
