Dear ICAZ Member,
It is time to remind you again that the University of Durham (UK) will host the next conference of
the International Council of Archaeozoology (ICAZ) on 23rd-28th August 2002. Details of the confer
ence can be found at the following address: http://www.dur.ac.uk/icaz.2002/.
It is now possible to register on line (or by using our downloadable PDF file registration form). T
o set up the on-line registration system has been a real ordeal for us, so we sincerely hope that y
ou will try to use this facility! Please register as soon as possible!
We have now 23 sessions, the organisation of most of which is well on the way. In fact most of them
are already full or almost full, therefore, if you have not submitted your paper yet, do it soon,
to avoid the disappointment of finding the session in which you would like to speak already full.
The formal deadline for submission to session organisers is April 30, 2002 but, as I said, you'll b
e lucky to find still room in a session if you submit too close to the deadline.
We also very much encourage poster presentations (these do not necessarily have to be linked to any
of the organised sessions). We will have six parallel sessions but posters will be on display for
the whole length of the conference, so in a way these will provide greater exposure than oral
presentations. The deadline for poster presentations is also April 30.
Finally, you can also submit papers that do not fit in any of the sessions, but this means that we
will need to organise more sessions accordingly. We therefore need to know about these very soon an
d the deadline is January 31 2002. These papers can be submitted directly to the conference organis
ers by writing to: ICAZ.2002 at durham.ac.uk. Please, also use this email address for any other querie
s (but note that most of your questions will probably already have an answer in the web page, so pl
ease do consult it).
We hope for a massive participation to the conference. This will be a special opportunity for zooar
chaeologists across the world to exchange information and ideas. Do not miss it!
