Ljubljanában lesz egy érdekes, többek közt az UNESCO által támogatott
konferencia a könyvkultúrát érintő legújabb kihívások kapcsán. E hónap
végéig lehet kedvezményesen jelentkezni.

*A Reminder*
World Book Summit: BOOK: THE BEARER OF HUMAN DEVELOPMENT
Between April 2010 and April 2011 Ljubljana is the World Book Capital and *the
World Book Summit, on March 31st and April 2nd 2011,* will be the final
event of the large program prepared by the Ljubljana City authorities.

*January 31, 2011 Early-Bird Fee *
The aim of the World Book Summit is to bring together book professionals
such as publishers, bookseller and librarians, policy makers in the field of
culture, and academics that deal either with publishing studies or book
history.
The main topics of discussion will be the relationship between electronic
and printed books, the role of Google in book business, the changed business
models in publishing and bookselling and their impact on the quality of
supplied information, state support policies on changing the book
environment, the role of "linear" reading in digital environment, and the
(i)rationality of the claim that the information wants to be free.
Additionally, as the event is taking place in one of the smallest European
book cultures (at least according to the number of native speakers), the
role of translation in small cultures and the impact of globalization and
digitization on the preservation of small languages will be especially
stressed.
The event is taking place under the sponsorship of UNESCO supported by
International Publishers' Association (IPA), Federation of European
Publishers (FEP), International Booksellers Federation (IBF) and
International Federation of Library Associations (IFLA).
