Elisabeth Niggemann, az Európai digitális Könyvtár Alapítványának elnöke szerint az 
Europeana nem csak a kulturális örökség összefogásában játszik fontos szerepet, 
hanem abban is, hogy multimédiás szolgáltatásaival képes legyen könnyebben 
megszólítani a fiatalabb generációt.

Az Európai Bizottság információs társadalomért és médiaügyekért felelős biztosa, 
Viviane Reding együttműködésre szólította fel az európai kulturális intézményeket és 
vállalatokat a további tartalom bővítése érdekében. Szerinte az Europeana egyik 
legfőbb célja, hogy kreatív és interaktív felületté váljon azok számára, akik saját 
alkotásukat másokkal is meg szeretnék osztani. 

Az Európai Bizottság elnöke, José Manuel Barroso szerint "az Europeana nem pusztán 
könyvtár, sokkal inkább valódi hajtóerő, amely a XXI. századi európaiakat arra 
készteti, hogy példaképként tekintsenek innovatív előadeik, mint például a 
reneszánsz kor nagyjainak kreativitására".

About Europeana 
Europeana.eu is a prototype portal that brings together [UTF-8?]Europe’s 
distributed cultural heritage. Europeana.eu inspires ideas and deepens understanding 
by sharing [UTF-8?]Europe’s cultural and scientific heritage with the world 
online. The prototype has been funded by the European Commission under the 
eContentplus programme

Europeana prototype into a fully operational service. It is linked to a range of 
related projects which will provide content and develop functionality for v1.0, 
which will launch in 2010. 

The EDL Foundation, founded in 2007, is a dynamic organization responsible for 
Europeana v1.0 and related projects. The EDL Foundation has an enthusiastic and 
international team, based at the Koninklijke Bibliotheek (Royal Library) of the

The General Project Manager is the overall project manager for the Europeana v1.0 
project, and plays a key role in its success. This role also oversees the management 
of EDL [UTF-8?]Foundation’s involvement in related projects that contribute to 
Europeana.eu.

Key Responsibilities:

*        Management of the Europeana v1.0 project ensuring the project is delivered 
on time and in budget
*        Oversee the management of projects related to Europeana v1.0, ensuring all 
Projects are in line with Europeana v1.0
*        Play a key role in the development of Europeana.eu, contributing to all 
relevant work packages and deliverables
*        Day to day management of project budgets and resources
*        Responsible for timely delivery of all projects deliverables, including 
internal and external reports and financial statements.

The Marketing Assistant is responsible for executing the marketing strategy set by 
the Marketing & Communications Manager. The marketing activities are aimed at

Engine Optimization for the Europeana projects, organizing conferences and events 
and developing collateral materials. The postholder will work closely with the 
Webmaster and PR/editorial Assistant in carrying out the range of marketing and PR 
activities. 


Key Responsibilities: 
*        Organise conferences, meetings and events for Europeana, EDL Foundation and 
the related projects. 
*        Develop collateral materials for conferences, events and use by the 
Business Development team. 
*        Develop and execute the marketing strategy to [UTF-8?]Europeana’s 
partners, stakeholders and end-users. 
*        Work with webmasters and communications leaders from all the Europeana 
projects to ensure Search Engine Optimization across the sites. 
*        Work closely with the PR/editorial Assistant to plan and develop conference 
attendance and speaking opportunities.

media and other online tools to drive traffic and repeat visits.

The Webmaster plays a key role in the communication with [UTF-8?]Europeana’s   
partners and stakeholders by managing and maintaining its web presence. 

The Webmaster will be responsible for the online marketing of Europeana and managing 
stakeholder relationships online. This will involve creating and maintaining 
databases of registrations and developing and dispatching newsletters. The Webmaster 
will develop online marketing tools and manage and maintain [UTF-8?]Europeana’s 
multimedia assets. The postholder will work closely with the Editorial and Marketing 
Assistants in carrying out the range of marketing and PR activities. 


Key Responsibilities: 

*        Develop and maintain the Europeana v1.0 project website, ensuring all 
information is up to date, easily accessible and downloadable by partners and 
stakeholders. 
*        Responsible for layout and dispatch of the bi-monthly project newsletter to 
partners and stakeholders. 
*        Manage and maintain the partner and stakeholder database to ensure all 
relevant people receive the newsletters. 
*        Execute the online marketing strategy of Europeana.eu, updating the 
dedicated sections of the portal regularly to encourage repeat visits 
*        Layout and dispatch [UTF-8?]Europeana’s end-user newsletter. 
*        Develop online marketing tools such as banners, surveys, emails and similar 
resources. 
*        Create and manage media assets for conferences and events and on the 
project websites, YouTube, EU Tube and other sites. 
*        Ensure all marketing materials and communications are on brand, delivered 
on time and within budget.

The PR and editorial assistant will be responsible for writing all texts for press

editorial assistant will deliver the communications strategy for Europeana set by 
the Marketing and Communications Manager. The postholder will work closely with the 
Webmaster and Marketing Assistant in carrying out the range of marketing and PR 
activities. 


Key Responsibilities: 
*        Develop all copy for the Europeana v1.0 and portal websites, and 
newsletters for partners and end-users. 
*        Develop and edit all texts for collateral materials, presentations, reports 
and business plans. 
*        Manage the translation of copy into all European languages as and when 
necessary using the network of partners. 
*        Ensure all texts are on brand, clear and concise. 
*        Monitor the use of the brand guidelines across all Europeana-related 
projects and assist with implementation where applicable. 
*        Design PowerPoint presentations, invitations, badges, conference 
programmes, leaflets and similar collateral in line with brand guidelines. 
*        Develop media assets for the projects. These could include slideshows, 
animations and videos for conference and web use. 
*        Execute the PR strategy for the Europeana projects and the Europeana.eu 
portal. 
*        Work closely with Marketing & PR counterparts at the European Commission 
and related projects and institutes. 
*        Manage and maintain a database of journalists. 
*        Work closely with the Marketing Assistant to plan conference attendance and
