As you know the EBLIDA/SCONUL Seminar on GATS, the General Agreement on Trade in Services that is being negotiated by the WTO (World Trade Organization), will take place on 2 - 3 March 2005 in Cambridge. This important event for the library community will focus on discussing the implications that this Agreement will have in the functioning and services provided by libraries and cultural and educational institutions in Europe and world-wide. If we don't react on time, some parts of the GATS might turn out to be seriously harmful for our Institutions and users.

Therefore we consider this event to be an excellent opportunity for professionals from all over Europe to get acquainted with the contents of this international piece of legislation and the possibility to discuss our concerns with true experts on the matter.
