Early Registration Deadline for IFLA Conference in Boston is May 15!
Are you planning to attend the IFLA Conference in Boston, August 16-25th
? Then this is your reminder that the early registration deadline is
Tuesday, May 15.
For registration, hotel, and other conference information please visit
the IFLA 2001 website at http://www.ifla.org/IV/ifla67/index.htm
This will be the first time in 15 years that the United States has had
the honor of hosting the International Federation of Library
Associations and Institutions (IFLA) Council and General Conference.
IFLA 2001 provides a chance for you to meet, interact, and learn from
librarians from around the world, as well as an opportunity to showcase
our libraries and library services to the global library community.
Echoing the challenges of fulfilling the time-honored mission of
libraries to facilitate the free flow of information in today’s rapidly
changing world, the theme for IFLA 2001 will be “Libraries and
Librarians: Making a Difference in the Knowledge Age”. In addition to
programs that explore how libraries and librarians are effective players
in the 21st Century, the organizers have lined up a stimulating array of
daily lecturers that includes keynote speaker Jonathan Kozol as well as
Librarian of Congress James Billington, intellectual property expert
Peter Jaszi, and knowledge management guru Laurence Prusak.
IFLA 2001 is organized jointly by the American Library Association,
American Association of Law Libraries, Association for Library and
Information Science Education, Association of Research Libraries, the
Medical Library Association, and the Special Libraries Association.
IFLA conferences usually attract around 3,000 librarians from around the
world, and IFLA 2001 in Boston should be the largest meeting ever. The
conference will be held in the Hynes Convention Center, conveniently
located in the heart of the historic Back Bay district in downtown
Boston.
Over 30 libraries of all types will be opening their doors for tours
during the conference, and evening activities will take place at the
Boston Public Library, Harvard, MIT and the Museum of Science.
