Subject:       Hungarian National Bibliography

Dear Slavs,

        Our library was informed by the Hess Andras Company about the
discontinuation of the printed version of the Hungarian National
Bibliography.  Instead, a CD-ROM version of it is published. The price of
the electronic version is 19 times higher than the printed one.  I would
like to ask you the following questions:

        1. Which libraries have acquired the CD-ROMs?

        2. What comments do you have about the CD version?

        3. Where the additional money for electronic version come from?

        At the same time the OPAC of the National Library (Orszagos
Szechenyi Konyvtar) is on-line.  The NEKTAR database contains the full
bibliographic records of books and monographic series published in Hungary
after 1991, and deposited at the National Library under the legal deposit
act.

        Does the National Library receive everything that is published in
Hungary?  If this is the case, who needs the CD-ROM?  Does anybody know
what is the cataloging backlog at the National Library?

I'll appreciate any information on this subject.
