ASTRA Network participates in the project "Reclaiming and Redefining the Global South SRHR for 2015". The project
consits of producing a global South report on regional and global SRHR
agenda. In 2015, we will reach the target date for achieving the MDGs.
Similarly, the landmark international agreement documents of the
Beijing Platform of Action (BPfA) and the Cairo Programme of Action
(ICPD PoA) will also reach specific time-bound goals. The project aims
at providing the space for the "southern"
civil society to articulate
southern demands, to ensure that development agendas of governments,
inter-governmental organisations and donors are in tandem with their
needs, realities and experiences.

The report is envisioned as an
advocacy tool for raising awareness about the commitments and,
espacially, sheding light on specific problems faced by the Global
South as it regards the achiewing of MDGs and implementation of the
BPfA and ICPD PoA.

The final report will consist of regional reports
from the 5 regions in the global south: Africa, Asia-Pacific, Latin
America, Eastern Europe and Middle-East –North Africa (MENA)
regions. The regional report writing will be based on data analysis,
trend analysis in issues, anticipated future trends and current
realities. Armenia, Azerbajian, Georgia, Hungary, Poland, Russia and
Ukraine have been selected as countries providing the most
representative samples of SRHR issues faced by our region.

We
