Presents a Public Lecture by
Rosi Braidotti
Utrecht University, Netherlands
“FEMINISM AND POST-FEMINISM”
Much ink has been spilled on the debate about postfeminism - which has often
been misinterpreted as a form of anti-feminism. This talk argues on the
contrary for a great deal of continuity in terms of both the theoretical
agenda and the key concepts between the earlier generations of feminist
theory and the more contemporary manifestations of post-feminist thought.
The key ideas are: the politics of difference, the post-structuralist
critique of the unitary subjects and the emphasis on affectivity and
political passions as key tools of feminist intervention in the social
field. Emphasis will also be placed in inter-generational continuity and
dialogue.
