About the Lecture

Campaigns are interventions within / into communication systems striving to
change specific elements of them or add new ones to them. NGO campaigners
start working from outside the respective, established political or
organizational systems and don’t have a say within them. The campaign
however, aims at visible, measurable and sustainable change in a remote
system. How can this be achieved? NGOs have developed quite some
professional ways with low budgets.

Auditors will get familiar with most important campaigning instruments like
direct action, visualization of issues and symbolic confrontation. In a
systemic approach, most important elements of campaign design and planning
will be explained:

*subject / goal - relevance, interest, communicability *the antagonist
(construct) *strategical options, orchestration, exit scenarios *images,
symbols, language

*styles: confrontative, cooperative: “antagonist must not lose face“

*lobby: influencing decision makers

*success control by measurable change (quantitative) *benefit assessment
(qualitative) ================
