The educational objectives of the summer school are to
develop women's
studies programs at regional universities; improve the
qualifications
of those teaching women's and gender studies at university;
develop new courses and research projects on women's and
gender
issues.
Participants: Young university teachers and researches from
NIS and CEE countries developing or already teaching
courses on
gender\women's issues.
The program of the Summer School will consist of the
following
courses:
- Critical Linguistics as Feminist Method / Dr. Susan
Ehrlich
(York University, Toronto, Canada)
- From masculinity to masculinities. Methodology of men's
studies / Dr. Igor Kon (Institute of Ethnology and
Anthropology,
Moscow, Russia)
- Women and Nation / Dr. Zarana Papic (University of
Belgrade, Belgrade, Yugoslavia)
- Herstory: Gender Methodology in History / Dr. Natalia
Poushkareva (Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology,
Moscow, Russia)
- Women's Studies, women's literature, women's writing / Dr.
Svetlana Slapsak (Institutum Studiorum Humanitatis,
Ljubljana,
Slovenia)
- Women's Studies in Post-Classical Social Theory / Dr. Anna
Tiomkina (European University, St.-Petersburg, Russia)
- Women and Politics in Russia / Dr. Valentina Uspenskaya
(Tver State University, Tver, Russia)
- Transforming the Academy: Postmodernism, Psychoanalysis,
and Feminism in Contemporary Thought / Dr. Irina Zherebkina
(Kharkov National University, Kharkov, Ukraine)
There will also be guest lectures on related topics.
We provide accommodation and meals for all applicants
accepted, i.e. participants. By now we also have limited
funds to
cover participants' travel expenses. Organizing Committee
encourages applicant consider additional possibilities for
covering this kind of expenses in advance.
To apply please send us (preferably by e-mail as
attachment) your CV
(resume) and a curriculum of your teaching course on
gender\women's issues or short description of your research
project on the topic in Russian, Ukraine or English.
Deadline
for applying is June 15, 2000.
