**Chief, Gender Analysis Section** The UN Department of Economic and
Social Affairs has issued a vacancy notice for this position based in
New York. Under the direction and supervision of the Director of DAW,
the incumbent is responsible for planning, implementation and
coordination of the programme of work and activities of the Gender
Analysis Section; and planning and preparing for inter-agency and expert
group meetings, among others. Deadline for submission of applications is

Women's Learning Partnership (WLP) will host an international conference
entitled "Clash or Consensus? Gender and Human Security in a Globalized
World" with the support and cooperation of the Global Fund for Women.
The conference will be held 8-9 October 2003 at the School of Advanced
International Studies of Johns Hopkins University in Washington, D.C.

Women in Industrial Research: Speeding Up Changes in Europe** The
German Federal Ministry of Education and Research together with the
European Commission will hold this conference as a key activity of the
new EU initiative to promote research on women in industrial research.
The conference will be held 10-11 October 2003 in Berlin, Germany. Among
the topics to be discussed are: young scientists - how to motivate more
young women for careers in industrial research; enhancing the
participation of women in innovation and entrepreneurship; and improving
the knowledge base on women in industrial research.

**Graduate Scholarship in Reproductive Health Law** The Faculty of Law
at the University of Toronto announces the creation of a Graduate
Scholarship in Reproductive Health Law to be awarded to students
pursuing the degree of Master of Laws (LL.M.). The Scholarship is
designed to permit a law graduate from Africa, Asia, the Caribbean
Central or Eastern Europe, the Middle East, or Latin America, to
undertake advanced research and study in this emerging field of law.
