Subject: Training materials on victims' related issues: gender
perspective

Dear INSTRAW,

I am working with the NGO Coalition for the ICC's Victims Rights Working

Group this summer, collecting training materials that will be directed
towards individuals working with victims at the International Criminal
Court. I want to enquire as to whether you have such materials available

that you would be able tell me about, or could perhaps suggest other
sources
for this type of information - particularly related to sexualised
violence
and/or working with female victims. Perhaps some of the members of your
network would have advice and suggestions? Is it possible to forward my
reuquest to your trainers' network? I would really appreciate that.

Below I outline some of the specifics with regard to the information
that I
am looking for:

This ought to involve material that addresses:
- Trauma,
- Sexual Violence,
- Security and Confidentiality, and
- Respect to victims and witnesses security, integrity and dignity.

The target audience intended for these materials are
- ICC Staff (including members of the Office of the Prosecutor -
including
investigators, Judges, and members of the Registrar, where both the
Victims
and Witness Unit and the Victims Participation Unit are housed),
- Defense Counsel,
- Victims' Legal Representation,
- NGOs and other members of civil society who will assist victims in
filing
complaints (and provide other support, as well),

It will essentially cover three stages:
- Pre-trial (Investigation technique)
- Procedural justice (cross examination, interviewing technique, etc;
considering special measures for children, victims of rape, elderly)
- Post trial (reparations, protection, etc.)

If you have time or interest to discuss any of these issues in greater
detail please do not hesitate to contact me either by email or at
+31-70-3634484.

I look forward to hearing from you,
With best regards,
Linda Ohman
