Dear Colleagues,
Please find bellow the information on Human Rights Advocacy
Training,
organized by CEU Human Rights Students' Initiative – HRSI, which
will
be held in Budapest on 2-9 March 2003.
HRSI is human rights organization comprised of the students and
alumni
of the Central European University in Budapest. It is funded by
the
Open
Society Institute, Budapest, and works in close cooperation with
CEU
Legal Studies Department. This workshop is funded by the Council
of
Europe's European Youth Center, Budapest.
The workshop is envisaged as an opportunity for young NGO
activists to
learn how to lobby for human rights issues. By enriching the
knowledge
on human rights advocacy principles and providing the space for
practicing of necessary skills, the workshop aims to enhance the
capacity of NGOs from the region to advocate for human rights.
Please
note that human rights advocacy is a far broader concept than
legal
advocacy, and therefore this workshop is not designed only for
lawyers,
but for everyone interested in lobbying for human rights.
The objectives of the workshop are as follows:
strengthen the capacity of the human rights activists from the
region
to pursue human rights advocacy in general, with a specific focus
on a
current human rights issues in the region
provide training on human rights advocacy techniques
network young scholars and activists with NGO practitioners from
CEE
region
provide a forum for regional human rights professionals to
exchange
experience with the young activists through training and
discussions
related to current advocacy initiatives.
Hereby we would like to announce a call for applications for
participation in Human Rights Advocacy Training.
The requirements for the applicants are as follows:
