Dear friends and colleagues,

I am delighted to invite you to this year's annual meeting of the European
Network on Conflict, Gender and Violence, in Valencia, Spain, September
22-25, 2002.

Attached is a copy of the preliminary conference program; minor changes may
still occur.  I am also compiling the program abstracts and will send those
out shortly.

Also attached is a letter from this year's host, Prof. Manuela Martinez,
University of
Valencia, who kindly agreed to take on the local organization.  Please refer
directly to her
with questions about registration, accommodation, and possible help with
travel expenses.

At this point I won't be able to accept additional presentations.  However,
if you find that
your work would fit in particularly well with this year's program, it may be
possible to present it in a poster format.  If you are interested in that,
please let me know by June 14.

As in previous years, the program covers a wide range of topics, and the
presentations reflect
different theoretical and methodological approaches to violence against
women.  Together,
they present an exciting overview over current work in this area and I thank
all presenters
for their willingness to contribute to this conference!
