1.
International Human Rights Internship
The North-South Centre of the Council of Europe in partnership with
Forum Asia and the International Human Rights Internship Programme
(IHRIP) will organize a Global Training Course on Economic, Social and
Cultural Rights from 23 November to 1 December 2002 in Portugal.
The training is aimed at applicants from development organizations, and
groups fighting for social and economic justice. Women in particular are
encouraged to apply.
For full presentation of the training course and an application form
please write to Aye Aye Win at aye.win at coe.int .
The deadline for applications is 30 July 2002.
2. Essay Competition 2002
The Foreign Policy Center announces: Webb Essay Competition 2002 : Why
are we afraid of the European Union?
The competition is open to anyone under the age of 27. The winner will
receive L1000 and be published in the New Statesman. All essays must be
original and the unaided work of the author. The competition is open to
all nationalities.
This could be a great opportunity to present our perspective on the EU -
a perspective of young women from the CEE/CIS region to a wider
audience! Particularly, since it seems that women from non-candidate
countries could also submit their essays.
Application Deadline: September 28, 2002
