                    Summer Fellowship in NGO Law at the
                International Center for Not-for-Profit Law

The International Center for Not-for-Profit Law (ICNL) is offering summer
fellowships to lawyers, law students, and civil society specialists from
Central and Eastern Europe interested in NGO law.  There are three possible
venues for this fellowship:

ICNL - Washington, DC.  There are three openings for fellows to work in
ICNL's Washington, DC office during the month of August 2001.  ICNL will
provide airfare, housing, and a modest but adequate stipend.

ICNL - Budapest.  There are two openings for fellows to work in ICNL's
Budapest office for up to three months this summer.  ICNL will provide a
stipend of $1,500.  Each fellow will be responsible for his or her own
housing and travel expenses.

ICNL ? Almaty.  There is also the possibility of a fellowship in our Almaty
office.  Although ICNL has not yet identified funding for this fellowship,
ICNL will work with prospective applicants to secure outside funding.

Interested candidates should apply by submitting the following:

1)   A curriculum vitae in English,

2)   A writing sample (no longer than five pages), and

3)   A statement of purpose, detailing:

a)   Desired location,
b)   Statement of past experience on issues relevant to NGO law, and
c)   Statement of specific ways in which the candidate plans to continue
work on issues of NGO law in his/her own country after the fellowship.
Fellows may also propose a specific research topic for the fellowship, or
may request to work generally on ICNL's projects in the region.

The deadline for applications in March 15, 2001.

Preference will be given to those candidates whose projects focus on
Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic,
Hungary, Kosovo, Macedonia, or the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, as well
as projects that support ICNL's NGO law reform activities in the region.
Candidates for Central Asia should state their special interest in one or
more of the Central Asian republics.  For additional information on ICNL,
