We have a request from one of our offices (Azerbaijan) on any studies done
in
the CEE/CIS countries on girls education specifically.....any aspects. If
you
are aware of such research, or of groups which might be contacted
separately, I
would appreciate your informing me.
As you may be aware, quality education for all girls is one of the global
goals
of UNICEF. Not much information on issues facing girls in this region is
available. Among areas where information would be helpful:
    -Any studies done on school texts from a gender perspective
    -Socialization process: gender relations, dealing with stress, conflict,
tolerance, esp. related to boy-girl relationships
    -Factors related to early school leaving, i.e. we understand that in
some
communities there is a tradition of girls leaving school for cultural
reasons at
around age 12-13....
    -Others.....

Appreciate any research or work done in this area.
