The grand finale of the World March of Women and the delivery of signatures
to the United Nations in New York on October 17 is rapidly approaching! We
would like to remind you of the importance of signing and getting others to
sign the support cards and petitions in support of the World March Demands.
It is also very important to send the signatures to your national
coordinating body as soon as possible.


As you know, we are also collecting signatures on-line at the World March
Web Site. You will find below a trilingual message that we suggest you
circulate, via e-mail, to your friends and acquaintances in order to create
a vast chain of signatures, as a gesture of solidarity with the World March
of Women. Please note that the signatures signed on the web site will be
automatically added to the total number of signatures collected per country.

The World March of Women is an ambitious project involving more than 5200
groups in 157 countries who are united in activities of popular education
and mobilization for political demands. The World March of Women is calling
on the United Nations and its member states to adopt concrete measures to
eliminate violence against women and poverty. On October 16, 2000, a
delegation of women from every world region will meet with the managing
director of the International Monetary Fund, Horst Köhler, and the president
of the World Bank, James Wolfensohn. On October 17, during an international
rally in New York, the international delegation will meet with UN
Secretary-General, Kofi Annan. At this time, they will present him with
signatures gathered from around the world in support of the world demands of
the March of Women. The goal of the signature campaign is to gather over 10
million signatures worldwide. Your signature is important and can contribute
to creating a more just and egalitarian world. You can sign the support card

La Marcha Mundial de las Mujeres constituye un ambicioso proyecto de
movilización, educación popular y reivindicaciónes que cuenta con la
participación de más de 5200 grupos repartidos en 157 países y territorios.
La Marcha Mundial de las Mujeres en el Año 2000 exige que la ONU y sus
Estados miembros adopten medidas concretas con miras a erradicar la
violencia hacia las mujeres y la pobreza. El 16 de octubre de 2000, en
Washington, una delegación de mujeres de todas las regiones del mundo, se
reunirá con el Director del Fondo Monetario Internacional, el señor Horst
Köhler y con el director del Banco Mundial, el señor James Wolfenson. El 17
de octubre, durante una gran concentración mundial en Nueva York, la
delegación internacional tendrá un encuentro con el Secretario General de
las Naciones Unidas, el señor Kofi Annan, a quién entregarán todas las
firmas en apoyo a las reivindicaciones de la Marcha Mundial de las Mujeres.
Esta campaña tiene como objetivo recabar 10 millones de firmas en el mundo
