CALL FOR PAPERS
Workshop/Conference on:
'Theoretical Considerations on Gender and the South Asian Diaspora'
There is a severe lack of theoretical work on gender and the South
Asian Diaspora. This conference is an attempt to generate some
questions on the contemporary moment amongst South Asian women in
academia. It is an open conference, so calls for papers will be
circulated through mailing lists and notice boards. The selected
abstracts will generate the framework for the day. Although,
theoretical papers will get preference over those simply reporting
research findings. I believe this gathering could potentially be
momentous for generating controversial and lively debates amongst the
academic community in the areas of gender, race and theory. Issues
around sexuality and the body, community, identity and borders,
representation and theoretical considerations of power and ethics
will be explored.
