Érdekességek a nagyvilágból, továbbítva az EPIC listáról.
Én leginkább egy angol oldalon ragadtam le, ahol az angol
kulturális örökséget bemutató 150 honlapot gyűjtöttek egybe.

* Announcement [cross-posted] *

I just mailed the March issue of the SPARC Open Access Newsletter. In
addition to the usual round-up of news from the past month, it takes a
close look at the final version of the NIH public-access policy (released
February 3) and offers some reflections on the long-term coexistence of
open access and toll access.

The Open Access Bibliography: Liberating Scholarly
Literature with E-Prints and Open Access Journals presents
over 1,300 selected English-language books, conference
papers (including some digital video presentations),
debates, editorials, e-prints, journal and magazine
articles, news articles, technical reports, and other
printed and electronic sources that are useful in
understanding the open access movement's efforts to provide
free access to and unfettered use of scholarly literature.
Most sources have been published between 1999 and August 31,
2004; however, a limited number of key sources published
prior to 1999 are also included. Where possible, links are
provided to sources that are freely available on the
Internet (approximately 78 percent of the bibliography's
references have such links).

5. Good Practice Guide for those involved in the development of cultural
heritage Web resources and
 service

Message forwarded from the UK archiveslist, archives-nra.

Date: Fri, 4 Mar 2005 09:54:49 -0000
From: Marieke Guy <M.Guy at UKOLN.AC.UK>
Subject: Good Practice Guide for those involved in the development of cultural
heritage Web resourc
es and service

Dear All,

The NOF-digitise programme provided lottery funding to support the
digitisation and development of 150 Web sites offering access to
cultural heritage resources. The resources can be accessed from the
EnrichUK portal available at http://www.enrichuk.net/

Technical support for the projects was provided by UKOLN and AHDS,
through the NOF-digitise Technical Advisory Service (NOF-TAS), working
closely with MLA who provided expert advice to the Big Lottery Fund.
During its lifetime NOF-TAS producing a wide range of materials and
gained valuable experience and understanding of the support needs of
digital library development work within the cultural heritage sector.

In order to ensure that the resources and experiences are not lost UKOLN
are launching a Web site which offers a range of advice to organisations
involved in similar development activities. The resources are based on
those developed for the NOF-TAS service, and will be complemented with
others based on experiences gained in supporting similar work within the
cultural heritage and higher and further education sectors.

We intend to continue to maintain and develop these resources in order
to support new digital library development work across the sector. Many
of the resources available will be of interest to those in the archive
community.

The resources, which are known as the Good Practice Guide, are available
at http://www.ukoln.ac.uk/interop-focus/gpg/

We are grateful to BIG (the successor organisation to the New
Opportunities Fund, NOF) and the MLA (Council for Museums, Libraries and
Archives) for their support.

Regards

Marieke Guy
