WELCOME FROM THE CHAIR
The Fourteenth Triennial Meeting of ICOM's Committee for Conservation (ICOM-CC)
will be held in The
Hague in the Netherlands from 12-16 September 2005.
The Netherlands is very active in a variety of areas related to preventive
conservation, materials'
research and conservation treatment. These activities are the positive outcome
of the celebrated D
eltaplan for Cultural Heritage, which started in 1992 and went on for more than
a decade. The leadi
ng institute in the Deltaplan was the Instituut Collectie Nederland (ICN), the
Netherlands Institut
e for Cultural Heritage, which is also organizing the Fourteenth Triennial
Meeting.
...
I am convinced that the combination of the cultural opportunities offered in The
Hague and its surroundings, together with the unparalleled quality of the
papers and posters to be
presented by our Working Groups will make this week an unforgettable learning
experience. Thanks to
the conference theme - Our cultural past - your future! - the general public
will also be offered
the opportunity to gain new insights and understanding of our cultural
heritage and its vulnerabil
ity.
