Dear list-members

The University of Johannesburg is delighted to announce the first call for abstracts for the 14th meeting of the Worked Bone Research Group. This will be the first time the meeting is hosted on African soil and the first time in the Southern Hemisphere. We hope you will be able to join us next year in making this a memorable meeting.

The abstract submission form can be found on the conference website (www.uj.ac.za/wbrg<http://www.uj.ac.za/wbrg>) and should be submitted by 30 November to the Organising Secretary, Dr Justin Bradfield (wbrg2021@uj.ac.za<mailto:<a href="mailto:wbrg2021@uj.ac.za>).">wbrg2021@uj.ac.za>).

The conference is generously funding by the Palaeontological Scientific Trust (PAST<https://www.past.org.za/>), which allows us to waive all fees for students and African scholars.

We are, of course, cognisant of the fluid situation in the world at the moment and therefore we ask that, when you submit your abstract, you indicate your preferred alternative option, should international travel not be possible next year. South Africa's borders are open and our Covid cases are on a downward trajectory. We are monitoring the situation carefully, here and abroad. The organising committee will make a final determination in March next year, based on the global situation and on the responses in the abstract submission form. We will keep you updated on the conference website. Should the face-to-face meeting go ahead as planned be assured that all Covid-19 protocols will be adhered to.

We look forward to welcoming you to the University of Johannesburg.

Regards

The Organising Committee
