<p>I came across an interesting reference to a "ringing" method of separating the antler tines from burrs (or to shorten the tine into pieces) it was described as "notching" the circumference of the antler to then snap it off. Much in the same way as groove
and snap but instead of creating a groove, they would flake off or make "notches" around the piece. This reference mentions that it is a commonly referred to method "around the world", but it was not referenced well and so I cannot find the source material
for this method. I have done a search and still cannot find a reference to this method so I was hoping someone may have an idea where I might find more information about this method, or perhaps it has a different name?</p>
