<div>I published several from Late Saxon (10th to 11th century) contexts at West
Fen near Ely a few years ago: text enclosed here. I wouldn’t go as far as to say
that they are spools though. Taylor and May’s 1996 text on the metapodia from
Dragonby in Lincolnshire is one of the best texts for identifying the various
types of bone modification, and is still widely used here.</div><span class="HOEnZb"><font color="#888888">
