In Neolithic lake shore settlement in Central Europe (Switzerland,
Austria, Germany) a lot of examples for using birch tar as glue to
fix flint, bone, antler and wooden artifacts are known. I have

Sonia is right - it would be interesting to check if
wear signs or<br>
striations can point towards work with tougher
material such as fish<br>
scales (Poplin's suggestion) or softer material such
as fibers or wool<br>
(if it was a kind of wool comb or a tool used to
soften or straighten<br>
fibers).<br>
