In fact, we have more than 100 objects of this type, some of it perforated, other decorated. Yeah it is diaphysis of cattle bones and it was found inside an hypogeum. No other animal bones or bone tools were found within the graves. </div>

However, this looks like waste from a bone tool workshop (typically decorative pins, dice). The idea is that the epiphyses are cut off and the tool maker is left with a diaphysis section (this looks like it could be a cattle-size animal radius). At that time more 'rings' are sliced off to create a diaphysis of the desired length which can then be sectioned into rods for further manufacturing. There are numerous publications about this process, especailly from Roman sites although I know of very early examples of this technique from the Late Chalcolithic of Anatolia or the Late Bronze <br>
