Dear Etan,

I scanned a page from book:
Van Vilsteren, V. T. 1987. Het Benen Tijdperk. Gebruiksvoorwerpen van
been, gewei, hoorn en ivoor 10.000 jaar geleden tot heden. Drents Museum,
Assen.
There is baby-comforter on the fig 88.
Sorry about quality - I do not have a book, but only a copy.

Best wishes,
Thanks, Marloes. You are right about the large ring, of course, but what
about the small rings?
Yes, these are all parts of a baby's comforter/pacifier!
Found in Amsterdam dated to the 19th/20th century (with the rubber parts
which are missing here)
Best wishes,
Subject: [Bonetools] bone objects
Dear all,
Here are some bone rings found in Jaffa, Israel by the Israel Antiquities
Authority in a context of – probably – the beginning of the
20th century. In that time Palestine was already rather
modernized, especially a port city like Jaffa. The objects could have
been imported, mainly the large ring.
Does anyone have any idea about the use of these rings, any
parallels?
Etan
