<div>Of interest might be the EBA thong stretching tools first published by Sandra Olsen in the Crafting Bones volume of the Budapest WBRG conference (BAR 2001). These thong strechers from Khazakstan were made on the aboral parts of horse mandibles. Sandra did experimental work on them and examined both the experimental material and the archaeological materia at high magnifications. she came to the conclusion that they were designed to make leather straps supple. At the same time of range of similar artifacts can be found from Slovenia into Hungary and beyond into (in the Czech case as well slighty later than Sandra's material in Khazakstan). The earliest such object in Hungary dates to middle Bell-Beaker times to around 2500 BC. </div>
