<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>I recieved a link yesterday of the Nagy book, and
there seems to be English summary to each chapter, so don't bother --- unless
you have something in particular regarding "horse graves without horses" -
because THIS is the first I have ever heard about it and I would love to have
something about that in my thesis. Graves w/horses, wiothout humans, occur, and
eptaphs we all know of, but horse-graves without horses....I am definitely
intruiged!</FONT></DIV>

<DIV>Dear Gun-Britt,</DIV>
<DIV> The entire Nagy article is in Hungarian
and I only have a copy in Word format (Margit gave it to me in this form).
However, I will see if I cannot get a xerox copy to scan next time I am at the
museum. It is the year book of the Zalai county museums. If you don't hear
from me soon write me a letter to remind me!</DIV>

<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>And thanks for sharing this wonderful article!
As I read, I came upon the mentioning of ritualistic horse burials without a

wonder if you possibly could contribute with some more specifics on those
graves? The reference in your article page 207 is made to Nagy 2005, pp

<DIV>Dear Barbara,</DIV>
<DIV> Thanks for the PDFs concerning this endlessly
interesting skeletal element! Perhaps this is also the time to remind
people that in addition to the 'classic' caprine astragalus finds there
are amulets made from a variety of astragalii from a number of species
such as beaver, dog and hare (sometimes chained to carnivore canines),
from large swathes of Northern Europe into Eurasia. I am attaching an
article on amulets I published last year. Heidi Luik also has a
wonderful publication on the Iron Age beaver astragalus amulets from
Estonia </DIV>

<DIV>and Olivier Putelet has an article that includes a Merovigian beaver
amulet grave find.</DIV>
