Dear WBRG members,

I am glad to see that the amount of contributions from outside of Europe are increasing steadily. This month's bonetool is a dagger from New Guinea made of cassowary bone. It was part of a presentation of my student Bernard Hoffmann at Hamburg University, who kindly assembled this blog from published sources:

Marianne Christensen, Marta Blasco Martin, Abigail Meza and Giblerto Pérez Roldán would like to announce another major edited volume on bonetools from Iberia, Meso- and South America entitled "Hueso, asta, diente y marfil vistos desde sus perfiles biológico, tipológico y tecnológico. Una perspectiva iberoamericana" (Blasco Martin et al. 2026). The volume can be downloaded from the website of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (see link below).

Prior to the existence of the Worked Bone Research Group a session entitled Bone Tools Manufacture and Use“ has been organised by Alice Choyke at the ICAZ conference in Washington in May 1990. Thanks to Alice Choyke, Daniella Bar-Yosef, Nerissa Russell and Jörg Schibler, who searched their cupboards for these 36 years old information I could add a page with information about this meeting to the WBRG website:
