> Thank you for your response to our call for expressions of interest about a new finds training initiative. We would greatly appreciate if you could forward the following invite on to your BONETOOLS mailing list as you did previously.
>
> We have decided to hold an online ‘Town Hall’ on Tuesday 1st April, 1-2pm for representatives of finds communities. The session will feature a presentation on our aims and objectives, ask for feedback, and offer a chance for questions, collaboration ideas, and open discussion. Hopefully during this session we would be able to discuss some of the ideas and queries raised in your last email.

> We would like to welcome anyone involved in organising, managing, and/or running finds communities or groups whose members would benefit from finds training (eg SIGs). We welcome as many or as few reps from each group as you would like to send. We’ll also record parts of the session and make the reIFAcording and the minutes available for those not able to attend – do use the link above to ask questions even if you can’t make it!

> The Finds Group is hoping to collaborate with finds communities to produce a series of recognisable, replicable, CIfA-accredited training. Training is one of the Finds Group’s strategic priorities. The most common concern we hear from our membership is a need for finds specialist training. Opportunities for training in finds specialisms can be few and far between, and at the other end of the spectrum, experienced specialists are retiring leaving no one to pick up their mantle.
>
> Some of the ideas that we are currently exploring are:
>
> Online (video) bitesize training
> e-learning modules (short - free; long - cost)
> Bolt-on training at finds community events
> Day conference with multiple finds sessions
> Day conference masterclass focussing on a single finds specialism
> Multiple day conference
>
> And we’re also looking at collating the excellent training opportunities already offered by finds communities – so bring along any dates you’d like us to share with our members!
> We will also be considering the following:
>
> Cost to produce/ run (including trainer time/expenses)
> Cost to attendees
> Sources of funding
> Location
> In-person – regional, based on reference collection locations?
> Online? Or Hybrid?
>
> Looking forward to seeing you there!
