Dear WBRG members,

this month’s bonetool is again an artefact type presented during the WBRG meeting in Paris. This time the Natufian bird bone beads shown by Laurent Davin are on display. For me as archaeozoologist, these are particularly intriguing items, since the manufacturers used not only the bird bone morphology as decorative eye-catcher, but also anatomical features of the Tibiotarsus as functional parts for suspension:

I would like to point your attention to a Finnish website about medieval bone flutes set up by Riitta Rainio and Annemies Tamboer in 2017:
https://musiikinsuunta.fi/2017/1-2017-39-vuosikerta/turun-luostarikorttelin-laulava-luu-1250-1550/ <https://musiikinsuunta.fi/2017/1-2017-39-vuosikerta/turun-luostarikorttelin-laulava-luu-1250-1550/>
The website is listed nw also in the „Various Links“ section: https://www.wbrg.net/links/various-links/ <https://www.wbrg.net/links/various-links/>

Nejma and Marianne just circled the information about the Paris proceedings, so it is probably enough to summarise the information shortly here:
• 37 conference participants registered for the Paris meeting proceedings, which will be published in the sessions series of the Société Préhistorique française <https://www.prehistoire.org/shop_515-0-0-801/seances-en-ligne-acces-libre-supplements-au-bspf.html>.
• Manuscripts should not exceed 5000 words and may contain up to five tables and / or figures.
• The deadline for submission is the 31 January 2025.
• Publication is planned for end of 2025 or early 2026.
Details are also available also available on the Paris meeting page: https://www.wbrg.net/meetings/15th-meeting-paris-2024/ <https://www.wbrg.net/meetings/15th-meeting-paris-2024/>
