Dear WBRG members,

The June bonetool of the month are two 19th century erotic Netsuke carvings from Japan:

I am still grateful for suggestions of new bonetools of the month from the community. Particularly welcome are examples from outside of Europe in order to break-up the still prevailing eurocentrism.

The Paris meeting page has been updated. It shows the group picture and the conference poster. The final program is available now for download as well as two posters from the poster session by Natacha Buc and Laura Tordeur Champagne:

Anybody else who wants his or her poster to become available for download, please send me the file.

The list of Bone Workers has a new member:
Ian Dennis from Cardiff University has been added after his participation in the WBRG meeting in Paris.

Anybody who want to get in touch with him, here is his mail address: dennisit at cardiff.ac.at

Jacqui Mulville has provided me with a set of nine short video guides (1 minute each) showing antler working. As she convincingly mentioned in her presentation in Paris, the purpose of these is not a scientific experimental approach to analyse techniques, but to raise interest and provide education for the wider public for ancient materials and handicrafts. A definitely important task in order to keep them alive. Please have a look here:

The videos are linked on the WBRG website now at
